Huntington Christian School: Parent Newsletter for Miss Wong's Class

Memory Verse: Do to others as you would have them do to you. Luke 6:31 (Please know Friday).

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to 2nd grade! I hope you have all had an enjoyable summer filled with fun activities! My name is Miss Wong and I have been teaching at Huntington Christian School for six years. This is such a great school and second grade is a very fun grade!

We have a wonderful aide in our class. Her name is Mrs. Shinrock and she is absolutely fabulous!

Each Friday the parent letter will be sent home in the Friday packet. It will explain the homework for the following week and other information pertaining to our class activities. Homework is due the following day although some assignments such as book reports and projects will have specific due dates.

A memory verse is included each week for the children to learn. The children should study this verse every night so that it will be memorized by Friday. Even if your child is absent, they are expected to learn all verses. A special award is given at the end of the year to those children who have learned all the Bible verses. The Memory Verses for the First Quarter are attached to this letter.

A Scholastic Book Club order is being sent home today. If you would like to order any books, please fill in the order blank and enclose the exact amount of money or check by Friday, September 25th. Thank you!

Each month we memorize a poem. Our poem for this month is “Fall” and it is attached to this letter. Each student will be asked to the say the poem at the end of the month to Mrs. Shinrock or me.

Second graders are dismissed at 2:45 at the front of the school. If you are facing the school, we will be located to the left of the Huntington Christian School sign. At 2:55, all remaining children will be taken to Kids Overtime.

A parent volunteer sign-up sheet is being sent home today. Please return this as soon as possible and I will let you know when it’s a good time for you to come in. Thank you so much for volunteering!! I appreciate all of your help!

This Friday is Critter Day! Please remind your child to bring one stuffed animal that can sit atop your child’s desk for the day.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to drop by and visit the classroom. I also post information such as addition and subtraction families, book report information, Phonics Charts and our weekly newsletter on our website at https://hcspwong.tripod.com/room11/ . I’m looking forward to meeting you all on Thursday, September 24th for Back to School Night. Be sure to mark your calendars! Ü I am so excited about this year!  I know it’s going to be great!
